Mellow the F**k Out With Amy Winehouse’s “Halftime” (Listen & Download)

As a general rule I'm suspicious of posthumous releases. That Michael Jackson album was a travashamockery and at this point the only Pac material being released is shit he never wanted anyone to hear. But with first the Nas-assisted "Smoke" and now "Halftime", everything "new" I'm hearing from Amy Winehouse is actually pretty damn good.

Winehouse was at her most captivating when she sounded like she was on the verge of collapse, which turned out to be a tragic irony, but even though "Halftime" and its acoustic, neo-soul vibe is about as smooth as I've ever heard her, she still sounds amazing. I know the rappity rap heads are going to hit skip and that's fine, they've got a Prodigy interview to listen to. I'll take a moment of mellowness on a Monday though, and I'm willing to bet I'm not alone.

Amy's posthumous album, "Lioness: Hidden Treasures", may just turn out to be a worthy tribute after all. We'll have to wait until December 6 to find out for sure.
