Trying to imagine that there was a time when "The Grey Album" was a huge deal is like trying to imagine that there was a time when owning a television was a big deal, but the truth is Danger Mouse's classic mixtape was revolutionary.

Way back when it dropped (2004) the idea of downloading a "mixtape" on the internet was still pretty new, as was the idea of the now ubiquitous "mash up". The Beatle's publishing company, EMI, had no real idea what to do with "uncleared" samples on a "free album", sued Danger Mouse, and the resulting publicity pushed "The Grey Album" into the mainstream.

A serious case could be made that this is the most important mixtape ever made, so it's only right that the homie John Stewart, who was a RefinedHype writer back in the day, used his audio engineering skills to re-master Danger Mouse's classic and give the project the audio quality it deserves.
