Announcing the Winners of the 2nd Annual RefinedHype AwardsPosted by Nathan S. on 12/19/11 | Filed under Top Stories, Features, Best of 2011, RefinedHype Awards |
Album of the Year (Free Release) = Dopeness x cultural impact. Album officially available for purchase only.
A controversial nominee, I know, considering that “MBDTF” technically dropped in 2010. But I felt that regardless of the actual release date, this was still an album that had more impact on 2011 than any other, and the voters overwhelmingly agreed. It’s impossible to inflate the man’s ego any bigger than it already is, but this album is ridiculously good.
On the real, despite the vote I’m still not sure including this album in this year’s list was the right call. It definitely took votes away from other deserving projects. I think this will mark the first and last time I override a release date.
Runner Up: Kendrick Lamar “#Section80”
