From Ashanti to Coolio, Meet the Fell Off All-Star SquadPosted by Nathan S. on 09/19/12 | Filed under Opinion |
Nelly / Ashanti / Ja Rule
In retrospect I just should have made that Ashanti post an Ashanti / Nelly / Ja Rule trifecta. All three were once the most popular mainstream “urban” artists in the country, and were constantly collaborating….and now interest in all three range from “I got nothing against her” (Ashanti) to “oh yeah, him” (Nelly) to “I don’t particularly give a fuck” (Ja Rule).
For the record, Nelly did manage to sneak in a pretty recent number one single, “Just a Dream”, but on the whole he hasn’t had a major impact on music since 2004.
