I want you to picture George Clooney in “Oceans 11”. Smart, smooth, Clooney was always one step ahead of everyone else, manipulating those around him like the world was a chess board. Now I want you to picture the complete opposite. Now meet University of Florida basketball players Cody Larson and sophomore Erik Murphy.
For reasons I suspect unbeknown even to their own brains, Larson and Murphy, along with Florida team manager Joshua Adel, tried to rob a local restaurant (shout out to Scarlett O’Hara’s Restaurant & Bar) and then failing that broke into a car in the parking lot, crimes for which they were promptly arrested.
That’s dumb, but it’s not particularly Fails of the Week worthy in and of itself. No, where things really get interesting is that while handcuffed in the squad car the three came up with some of the fucking dumbest alibis I’ve ever heard. And how do we know their alibis were so dumb? Because there’s a mic in the police car that recorded everything.
Congratulations gentlemen. I highly recommend you retire from your life of crime immediately, because you’re terrible at it.
