Fails of the Week: You Ghostwrote What?Posted by Nathan S. on 11/11/11 | Filed under Features, Fails of the Week |
Am I going out of my way to trash a rapper you’ve probably never heard of? Yes, yes I am. A couple months ago my people and I started getting word of a rapper I’d never heard of named Celeb Forever who was pulling features from huge artists (Rick Ross, Big Sean, Pitbull, etc.) and mega producers (Lex Luger, Just Blaze, Boi 1da etc.). “Damn, this guy’s got to be amazing to get all these artists to work with him,” I thought. Nope, he was ok at best. I was mystified. Even if he was paying - nothing wrong with that- that didn’t explain it. What, like Just Blaze and Pitbull need a check from a random rapper?
Oh, now it makes sense. That Curren$y verse? Nope, he ripped that. That Just Blaze beat? Nope, not at all. That Lex Luger beat? Nope, he stole that too.
Best case scenario? He’s naive and got worked by some shady folks claiming to sell beats and features? Worst case scenario? He’s one of those shady guys himself. Either way I’m never listening to another cut from him again….six months from now…Celeb Forever ft. Jay-Z, Tupac & John Lennon “Best Song Ever” (Prod. by DJ Premier & Jesus).
