Lil Wayne’s Latest Insane Backstage Interview

Posted by Nathan S. on 10/14/09 | Filed under Videos, Lil Wayne

The always cheeky English bloke Tim Westwood recently say down backstage with Weezy for an interview that joint parts hilarious and insane. Check out RefinedHype’s take on Weezy’s comments on tattoo removal, his superhuman impregnation powers and his quasi-almost-sobriety.

Part 1

First off, god bless him, but it’s just hard for me to take anyone with an English accent like Tim Westwood seriously. When he says, “I be good soldier, nice to see you fam,” I couldn’t help but chuckle and want to hand him a scone. Anyway, the story behind “A Milli” is fascinating, and Wayne’s Allen Iverson-esque refusal to rehearse is classic: “Rehearse! Rehearse! Not a concert, not a concert, rehearsal.” Most importantly, it doesn’t look like we can expect The Carter 4 anytime soon. And my anytime soon, I mean in the next five years.

Part 2

I love how he pretends like removing one of the tears is a completely logical move. How does that make any sense? You’ve got multiple face tattoos, but somehow removing one small tear is going to make the difference? That’s a little bit like fixing a leaky faucet on the Titanic. Also, the man’s apparently got some powerful sperm. Three women pregnant? Actually, now that I think about it, it’s pretty amazing there aren’t more. If I told you Wayne had 10 babies would you be surprised? 20? 30? Personally you could get up to about 30 babies before I was even remotely shocked.

Part 3

The major news here is that Weezy says he’s put down the cup (meaning drinking syrup) for a little while, maybe because something similar just killed Pimp C. In any case, this is clearly a case of harm reduction considering he’s smoking while saying this and obviously hasn’t quit drinking entirely. So this is a little bit like Weezy saying, “yeah, I still ride my motorcycle drunk at 100 miles per hour while shooting large caliber weapons, but I’m wearing a helmet now.”  Frankly, I wouldn’t expect it to last long, especially considering that he goes on to credit his drinking with making him creative and successful, I wouldn’t expect it to last long. It’s the age old question: do drugs/alcohol make artists more creative? Maybe, but they also kill them (see Jimi Hendrix). Either way, Weezy obviously seems to have a death wish, or at the very least not be at all afraid to die. Crazy stuff.
