The crazy thing is that it really wasn't that long ago that Trey Songz was a skinny kid just hoping to make it, and now he's the unquestioned king of rap/R&B tracks. Usher's not going anywhere, but if anyone's pushing to knock Usher off the R&B throne, it's Songz.

Now that I think about it, I literally can't think of anyone who actively dislikes Trey Songz. Case in point, his new single "Hail Mary". No one's saying this shit is the second coming of D'Angelo, but it's catchy, harmless, radio friendly shit. And with Young Jeezy and Lil "I'd Rather Be Skateboarding" Wayne both dropping verses I get the added bonus of listening intently for new "Rap Lines That Make No Fucking Sense". (Anyone spot one?)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if Songz is the future of pop/R&B'/rap, I'm fine with that. More power to him, I'd frankly be shocked if his "Chapter IV" album doesn't do some serious numbers when it drops on August 21. Until then, enjoy...
