This Week in Hip-Hop Sales: 50 Cent has Officially Self-Destructed

The first person to ask 50 Cent how it feels to have his album crushed by Susan Boyle (aka that old lady who was on England's version of American Idol) will earn my undying respect. And 50 didn't just get beat, he got dominated. After a good-not-great opening week 50's "Before I Self Destruct" has plummeted from the charts to the number 20 spot, only selling a meager 65,000 copies this week. A lot of people might be listening to "Self Destruct", but they're definitely not paying for it.

On the good news side of things, Rihanna's "Rated R" is doing pretty damn well, coming in at the number 4 slot with 180,890 copies sold. Congratulations Rihanna, now let the Chris Brown countdown begin. And now on to the charts...

The Refined Take:

1) America loves them some f**king Lady Gaga. Not only does she have the number one song in the country, she's got two top-ten albums right now ("Fame" and "Fame Monster"). Two! Maybe 50 should start wearing some giant birds nests on his head.

2) The second most popular rap album right now? Birdman's "Priceless", which only sold 35,787 - and that's the second best! Not good times for the rap game right now.

3) Honestly, Rihanna's killing it right now. Not only is the album a top-ten, she's got two songs ("Hard" and Russian Roulette) in the top 20. How did the Chris Brown incident affect her popularity? Frankly it's hard to tell, she was doing these numbers before Chris too. We may never know.

4) That atrocious "Tik Tok" song is the third most popular song in the country? Really America? Really? Sometimes I'm ashamed to live in this country. We're better than that.

5) Random note, but Eminem's "Till I Collapse" is number 44 right now. Not great, but that song came out literally years ago. Anyone know the source behind the explosion of popularity on this one? Did I miss something?
