You won't hear this often, but one of the best qualities a rapper can possess is persistence. Stick around long enough, make enough dope music, and eventually everyone will have no choice but to start paying attention. It's not what young rappers want to hear, but it's the truth. Even what can often seem like overnight success stories are often really the result of years of work.

Case in point, The Kid Daytona. I've heard his name for years, heard some of his music here and there, liked it but honestly never paid too much attention. And then I met him down in Atlanta, he was cool, I started really listening to all his new music, and everything I've heard (aka "Ivory Coast Crime Scene") has been dope as fuck, including new release "Low".

Harry Fraud's been turning out some stellar production lately (peep "Bars & Hooks") and Daytona provides the rhymes to match. Plus he scores bonus points for the "Saved By the Bell" reference and the "Poison" reference in the second verse: "Cant trust a big butt and a smile..." Well played sir, well played.

Daytona's upcoming album "The Interlude II" is set to drop on December 19.
