Experiments don't always work, but when you discourage experimentation, discourage invention, that's when a culture truly dies. So while I don't know anything more about Purity Ring than they're not hip-hop (I'd toss them offhand into a hipster box), I've got to give it up to NYC emcee T-Shirt for taking a stab at bringing the two worlds together on his latest mixtape/EP/whatever.

More importantly, the results actually sound pretty nice. Hey, if Shirt can go in over Purity Ring records, maybe you can go in over Fiona Apple samples. I'm just saying, anything is possible.
