I Don’t Really Get This Stalley ft. Rick Ross “Lincoln Way Nights (Remix)” (Listen & Download)

For those that haven't heard, the precisely bearded Rick Ross has just made the messily bearded Stalley the latest member of Maybach Music, and to celebrate they've released new track "Lincoln Way Nights (Remix)", a flip of the title track from his breakthrough project. I don't get it.

Wale seemed like an odd signing, but Wale can do the ballin in the club thing when he has to. Stalley though? The man describes himself as the Bruce Springsteen of rap. Could Rick Ross be moving Maybach Music in a more underground direction? As the remix shows, given the right beat the two can sound nice on the same track, I just still don't really see where Ross is going with this. Anyone else?

And I hate doing this, but I know the beef lovers out there are going to try to feast on this, so here goes the disclaimer. I'm not hating on Stalley. Dope to see him on the come up, the man makes pretty good music. I just don't get the Maybach Music signing, just like I didn't get why my beloved Celtics would sign Jermaine O'Neal (besides the fact that they would now have two black men named O'Neal on the same team, which has to be a NBA first). Actually, Jermaine's semi-washed up so the analogy isn't perfect, but you get my point.
