“Yo Kanye, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Zach Galifinakis has one of the best videos for “Can’t Tell Me Nothin” of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”
So here’s the story. Kanye West happened to see the always bizarre stand-up act of Zach Galifianakis, who most people probably know as the fat crazy dude from “The Hangover”, and insisted that Zach work on one of his videos. Zach agreed, but only if he could do exactly what he wanted with no editing from West (in other words, no bald models). The result is his version of “Can’t Tell Me Nothin,” a video set on Zach’s Appalachian farms and featuring chainsaws, cows, clog dancers, and Will Oldham’s unbelievable mustache. The video’s been out for a little while now, but considering Mr. West’s recent tantrums and the fact that far too few people have seen it, I felt it was my duty to give it some much deserved and belated hype. It is, without a doubt, one of the best video of all time.
Some favorite moments:
1) By far the best moment of the video is the pairing of the “How he stay faithful in a roomfull of hos?” line as the camera pans over a herd of cows. Man, that never gets old.
2) Huge fan of the purple bathrobe and gold chain look. Huge fan. I think I just found my Halloween costume for this year.
3) I didn’t know you could bounce a tractor like it was on hydraulics. Huh, live and learn.
Just to compare and contrast, here’s the original from Kanye. (I’d love to embed it, but the good folks at Universal take down all videos from their artists posted on other sites. You know, cause god forbid more people watch them).
Personally, I don’t think it’s any contest who had the better video. You?
p.s. - How long before the “Yo, Taylor” jokes stop being funny? I’m guessing sometime around December, or until Kanye does something dumber.

Without a doubt, one of the FUNNIEST videos of all time. Loved Zach in "The Hangover." In fact, when I saw that film, I forgot where I had seen the dude. Then I remembered it was from this video. |
