Robin Thicke, Pharrell & T.I. Tap Into Their Funky Sides On “Blurred Lines” (Video)Posted by Danielle Harling on 03/21/13 | Filed under T.I., Pharrell, Robin Thicke |
With all the hoopla surrounding crooner Justin Timberlake and his new "The 20/20 Experience" album, fellow singer Robin Thicke clearly has no plans on sitting on the sidelines and this week he introduced a new song titled "Blurred Lines." The soulful number finds Thicke joined by both T.I. and Pharrell and is pretty heavy on the funk thanks to a sample from Marvin Gaye's 1977 record "Got To Give It Up." It might take a minute for it to grown on ya, but overall "Blurred Lines" is a pretty dope number and that T.I. verse really is the icing on the cake.
Since the song is heavy on the 70's funk, it would have been nice to see some kind of inspiration from that decade in the hashtag-heavy "Blurred Lines" music video. But if models wearing red lipstick and plastic pampers is more your speed then you'll love the visual. Also, with the exaggerated facial expressions and the metallic outfit, I think it's safe to say that Pharrell's appearance in the video also serves as his audition tape for the role of Tin Man in "The Wiz."
