Roots drummer, Jimmy Fallon house band back and all around Renaissance man ?uestlove recently claimed that NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation", one of the few network tv shows I actually watch, was the Wu-Tang Clan of comedy, and was then promptly challenged by cast member Rashida Jones (who, by the way, is the daughter of legendary producer Quincy Jones) to prove it. Well he did, digging up some unreleased audition footage from the show's early days featuring RZA.
The Refined Take: There's nothing I could say that would be possible be any funnier than the video, so here are five of my favorite quotes:
1) RZA: "You will always be my best friend...girl power...girl power...love."
2) RZA: "I was gonna kiss you but..."
Rashida Jones: "Yeah, that wouldn't have been right."
RZA: "Nowadays? Yo, girls kiss."
3) Director: "There's just one problem. The character is a 34-year old white woman from Indiana, and you're a 6-foot-2 black guy who's the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan."
4) RZA: "He knows what the fuck I'm talking about, right?"
Aziz Ansari: (Nodding) "I definitely...yeah."
5) Amy Poehler: "It's really nice to meet you. I've heard the Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin to fuck with."
