Obie Trice Promises It’s “My Time” (Listen & Download)

I'm not saying Obie Trice is in "Detox" territory, but new music from the former Shady representative has been few and far between, and lord knows he doesn't have a "Beats by Obie Trice" headphone line to pay the bills. (Which, by the way, would sound completely grimy.) After dropping "Special Reserve" well over a year ago, it's been more or less radio silence from the man, until today when his new single "My Time 2011" dropped, a title which would seem to indicate we shouldn't expect his new album "Bottoms Up" to drop until at least the end of the year. Hey, it could have been worse. It could have been "My Time 2101".

Just heard from Obie's people that the track's actually titled "My Time", not "My Time 2011", so there goes that joke. Not like it was that good anyway.

Anyway, I've always thought Obie deserved better than how his career has shaken out so far, and even though I enjoy his dirtier work more than "My Time" and it's get money, smooth sound (beat courtesy of Gene XO), it's always good to hear the man on the mic. Hopefully this doesn't become a rare occasion.
