Nas & Damian Marley Show Some “Patience” (Listen & Download)

When Nas and Damian Marley take to Twitter and leak a record from their upcoming, highly anticipated "Distant Relatives" album themselves, who am I to argue? Coming closely on the heels of the superb "My Generation", their latest work "Patience" is a slow paced rider that truly puts Nas and Damian's vocals front and center. How much am I digging this track? On the production side, I don't usually endorse random language hooks, but on "Patience" it works. And fittingly enough if you're really only interested in hearing Nas rhyme, you're going to have to exercise some patience. He doesn't get started until about the four-minute mark.

"Distant Relatives" is set to drop on May 18, though given Nas' financial troubles, I wouldn't be surprised if he pushed to drop it tomorrow. Damn God's Son is getting worked by Kelis.

One last note. Nas asks a lot of unanswerable, deeply philosophical questions in his verse, except for one: "Was it a lightning storm that gave birth to the Earth and then dinosaurs were born?" Um, no. Not it wasn't. Not at all.
