Lupe Fiasco Lays Down Some Impressive “Lightwork” (Listen & Download)

It's no secret that I was no fan of Lupe Fiasco's last album, the not particularly bright "Lasers", but that doesn't mean I've completely written off Mr. Fiasco. In fact, even though his new release, "Lightwork", is about as far from the "F&L" Lupe I first fell in love with, I'm digging this.

While Lupe's lyricism is perfectly decent here, it's not his best but I'll take it any day, I'm a bigger fan of the genre-busting beat. That's dubstep pro Bassnectar on the beat and indie rock darling Ellie Goulding on the captivating hook. I'll still sit down and debate the peaks and valleys of Lupe's recent work anytime, but for now "Lightwork" is at the very least decent, and considering it's a free release from his upcoming "Friend of the People" mixtape (don't hold your breath on an actual release) the last thing I'm going to do is complain.

Thanks Lupe, I bet Bill O'Reilly's bumping this shit right now.
