JC Poppe
Regular readers know that it's part of my mission to seek out hip-hop in places the mainstream doesn't think to look, and in that spirit I'd like to introduce JC Poppe. Hailing from the very infrequently hailed city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Poppe is out to prove that Milwaukee is much more than just sausages, beer and cheese with the release of two tracks, "Saving a Sound" and "Left You With a Smile", two feel good cuts off his recently released album "Sleep Therapy". In these troubled time we could all use some feel good hip-hop, and Poppe delivers in large supply.

And if you don't know now you know...or at least you will after you check out all the musical goodness below...

Download "Save You a Sound" w/MediaFire.

He can def rap but the chorus ruins the "save the sound" I had to immediately turn it off after it began.

The second song is a little better but the beat gets a little repetitive IMO

Nah nah NY...that first track is lyrical as a mug, but yeah eff that chorus...it was a different voice tho, I think.

That second track bangs...now that has a dope chorus. I like the concept too. Lying ass dudes say they did that shit and dukes said he coulda but rap saved all that. At least white boy is real and not just mimmicking like a Vanilla Ice whateva whateva.

I'm giving the rest of his album a chance.

To jump in, I think "Save a Sound" has a great chorus in theory, but the execution was off. Either way, Poppe's an original voice and I'm eager to see him develop as a rapper and artist.
