Let's get one thing out of the way first. I know there were some rumors going around that
DJ Green Lantern and
Jay-Z's new mixtape "
Creative Control" was going to feature all new, exclusive Jay-Z tracks...but people need to stop believing these rumors. Believe me, just like
that Drake mixtape that never materialized, if the most powerful man in hip-hop decides to release an original mixtape, you will f**king know about it. This isn't 1999, Hova's not just casually dropping off a mixtape for the summer.
Ok, now for some good cop/bad cop.
Bad Cop: As I mentioned above, there's no truly new material here. Instead, "Creative Control" is a compilation of tracks Jay and Green Lantern have worked together on throughout the years, including freestyles, remixes and live recordings (plus a cut from Obama, seriously). In other words, we've been hear before.
Good Cop: Sure, the hardcore Jay collectors and downloaders already have these tracks, but most of us have probably never heard half these tracks and certainly don't have them. Come on people, it's a huge compilation from motherf-ing Jay-Z? Are we really going to complain?
