Jay Electronica
My cronies. How are you guys? Second editorial of 2010 and I am excited as a m’fer. Remember, as always, I can be reached at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) (if you ever want to pad my ego, send me nude pictures of your girlfriend, or just disagree with my superior opinion).

I start with this statement, which I believe is 100% true: If Hip Hop was Christianity, Jay Electronica would be Jesus Christ.

Slow down people. Before you start taking up torches and appealing for my excommunication, listen to what I have to say.

The other day, my friend asked me about Jay Electronica. I was surprised. Why? Well my friend is a Caucasian male who enjoys surfing, the beach, and life guarding. He lives in a house where classic rock is the number one genre. He listens to all the greats in rock, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. His exposure to rap does not exceed Hot97 (Power105 is just a weak imitation…sorry).

I never expected him to ask me about this god-send rapper. My friend is not one of the faithful, like me and you. The faithful who check the blogs on a daily basis. The faithful who follow all these rappers on Twitter. The faithful who read my writings and have their opinions drastically altered by the greatness that is my opinions. Shit, I’d expect my mother to ask about Jay Elec before him (we’ll get to that later).

So what is with what I said earlier? Is Jay Electronica, or Jay ElecHannukuh, really the Messiah (See what I did there?)

Yes.

A few weeks ago, Jay Electronica dropped “Exhibit C”. This single went onto rock the blog world. With Just Blaze, probably my favorite producer of all time, crafting an excellent beat it was sure to leave a dent on the blogs. (Let the unofficial remix’s commence).

But I did not expect to hear it on the radio the very next day. Never. Are you telling me, that after years and years begging for REAL HIP HOP on the radio, we get it? Finally?!

It is almost too good to be true. Now everywhere I go Jay Electronica has become the bench mark for what is dope, real, and lyrical Hip Hop. Jay Elec is that new nigga. Hov cosigns Jay Elec. Nas is the reason why his new tape hasn’t dropped yet.

I first heard of Jay Electronica on 11/04/2008 when I saw thread talking about him on Boxden. If you pay attention to my life like that, you already knew that I was deep in the blog world at that time. I downloaded his stuff and I was not hooked.

I wasn’t. I didn’t even pay attention. I listened to a few songs and then moved on. It was like every other rapper that seems to send me music. A few months later, I was an avid listener. He grew on me. Not because of the cosigns, not because he said some complex shit, no…he responded to me on Twitter.

Yea. That’s huge. Some rappers, who I know personally, don’t even respond to me on Twitter. Jay Electronica did though. That was pretty fucking dope. So I decided to actually LISTEN…and I was hooked then.

From what I can tell, Jay is a humble person. Shit, he was on PTwitty TV eating dinner while Diddy was acting a fool ordering the chef around, Jay was cool. Chilling.

Humble, smart, dynamic, and on the verge of changing the whole industry. Seems like a Messiah to me…

P.S. - I cannot wait for Act II. However, stop complaining about FREE MUSIC. IT’S FREE, SO STOP BITCHING.
P.P.S – Haha, how about them Cowboys?!
