Ice Cube Declares “I Rep That West” (Listen & Download)

I live in the City of Angels and so I can say conclusively that there is some building frustration with the legendary Ice Cube. After all, even though he's now far more focused on making family comedies (and other legitimately dope cinematic pursuits) he's continued to act as if he's the be-all and end-all of west coast hip-hop. That is to say, if Cube is indeed still the King of L.A. the natives are getting restless, so he's decided to flex some muscle and remind everyone he's still a force to be reckoned with on the mic with the release of his new cut "I Rep That West". So, does Cube still have it?

Personally, even though he claims to be binging his "pyroclastic flow", I"m not that inspired by Cube's rhymes here. They're definitely solid, but I don't see them striking fear in the hearts of any upstart west coast emcees. As in sports, getting to the top isn't the hard part. Staying on top is.
