Every so often I’ve got too much good ish in my inbox to post it all, so I just throw them all in the oven and cook up some Hot Links. In today’s addition we explore the news that Gucci Mane is headed to jail for up to a year, watch a hilarious video from Amp Live called Gary is a Robot” and blast the latest dope track from the Strange Fruit Project, “Crash”.
Gucci Mane Sentenced to 1 Year in Jail
Gucci Mane became the latest in a long, long line of rapper to face some serious jail time today when an Atlanta judge sentences Gucci to 12 months for repeatedly violating his probation (apparently someone didn’t learn their lesson from watching Lil Boosie). The sentencing comes at a terrible time for Gucci as he was at the height of his fame and preparing to drop his new album “The State vs. Radrick Davis.” Seriously, how motherf**king hard is it to just stay out of prison? Amp Live feat. Trackademicks & Mr. Micro “Gary is a Robot”
Jay-Z may have killed autotune, but AmpLive wasn’t ready to let it go without giving it a proper eulogy. Amp bids farewell to 2009’s warm old safety blanket (Snuggy?) on the lead single, “Gary is a Robot” from his upcoming 2010 solo debut “Murder at the Discotek”. The song features Bay Area emcee/ producer Trackademicks and Mr. Micro.
Beyond Belief & Donny Goines “Freestyle”
After checking out the Clipse show in NY, Donny Goines & Beyond Belief kicked a quick freestyle. Also, it’s apparently cold as f**k in NYC right now.
Strange Fruit “Crash” featuring Thesis, produced by Picnic.
Texas bred Strange Fruit Project is now back after a multiple year hiatus w/ an upcoming free EP entitled “M.A.S.K.” (Making Art Sound Kool). If the first leak off the EP, the dope “Crash”, is any indication, “M.A.S.K.” is going to be pistachios. To download, click here or here.
