Schadenfreude is a psychological terms used to describe someone who takes pleasure in the failure of others (aka haters), and while I certainly didn't derive any enjoyment from some of the epic f**k ups below, they were too egregious not to be called out. In the third of an ongoing series that will include the best...or worst...fails of the week from the world of hip-hop, sports, pop culture and beyond, I examine skateboard P's failed attempt to get a handful of Oprah, Snoop's horrendous "California Girls" track and much more...
Pharrell Gets Touchy With Oprah
Dear Skateboard P: If you're going to try to grab Oprah's titties, just go for it. This is not the time for half-assing. You could have been a legend, but not you'll simply go down in history as the dude who merely knuckle grazed the bosom of a billionaress.
Leno Bombs
If you think the Conan fiasco turned my feelings about Jay Leno from ambivalence to hatred you're right. While Obama absolutely killed at this year's White House Corespondents Dinner (the political version of a roast) Leno absolutely bombed. Crickets on all his jokes. Feel free to enjoy Obama working the crowd, but if you want the pleasure of watching Leno struggle fast forward to the 20-minute mark.
Meet Kobe Bryant, Desert Wanderer
As a Celtics fan I don't need to apologize for hating Kobe, so it was with no small measure of delight that I viewed the pics from Kobe's recent L.A. Times photo shoot and article. Who gave the green light to this disaster? I highly recommend the Photoshop gallery the good people over at DeadSpin put together. The Lakers may win another championship, but at least KG isn't doing d-bag photo shoots. (Note to KG: Please, please don't do a d-bag photo shoot.)
Snoop & Katy Perry Disgrace the West Coast
Snoop Dogg wanted to put together a west coast answer to Jay and Alicia's mega-hit "New York State of Mind", and not only failed, but failed to an astounding degree. First, Katy Perry's may technically be from Cali (hippie enclave Santa Barbara to be specific) but she's not even remotely the girl she's describing in the song. Oh, and the song's terrible. David Lee Roth just rolled over in his grave. What? Roth's alive? Huh, my bad. (Track's below.)
