When DJs Actually DJ: “Ghostface Killah & DJ Premier Duel of the Iron Fists” (Listen & Download) Posted by Nathan S. on 02/28/12 | Filed under Downloads, Mixtapes, Ghostface Killah, DJ Premiere

There was a time when mixtapes actually consisted of DJs mixing (imagine that), but as "mixtapes" have slowly but surely morphed into "albums for free online" the one downside is that it's now ironically harder than ever to hear a dope DJ put in work. And if just reading that sentence makes you feel a pang of nostalgia, might I recommend "Hevehitta & DJ Unexpected Present: Ghostface Killah & DJ Premier Duel of the Iron Fists"?

I'm not gonna lie, it was the promise of Primo and Ghostface blends that first made my pay attention to "Iron Firsts". And to be sure, those are nice. But it's actually at the end of the "tape", when Hevehitta and Unexpected dig through the crates to find the original samples for some of Premier and Ghost's most famous tracks. Fuck, I could rap nerd out to this shit all day - and I will.

Full stream and download link are below the tracklist - and those who really want to get deep can check out the track-by-track breakdown here. Enjoy:
