Dead Prez Declare It’s “Far From Ova” (Listen & Download)

Like everyone like myself who memorized Dead Prez' classic album "Let's Get Free" I was shocked to hear Drake flip their verse from "Hip-Hop" on "Over". "Oh shit!" I thought, "I wonder how Dead Prez is going to feel about Drake using their revolutionary, f**k mainstream music line to sell some mainstream music?" Well today we got our answer with Dead Prez' "Far From Ova", and the results are a little disappointing.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's good to hear Dead Prez back on the mic, especially with a second verse that's essentially a remake of the second verse from "Hip-Hop", but frankly I was hoping for a little more anger. I didn't expect them to throw a Maletov cocktail through Drake's Bentley, but at least get a little angry. Instead they basically just chide him, and all other mainstream rappers, for not repping the cause. It's the hip-hop equivalent of when your dad would say, "I'm not angry, but I've very disappointed."

Anyway, Dead Prez and DJ Drama's "Revolutionary But Gangsta Grillz" mixtape is set to drop on June 22. And yes, I'll be downloading it the second it drops. Let's get free.
