Chip Tha Ripper’s “Realer” Is Smoother Than Charmin Bear Bottoms (Listen & Download)

The only thing that would make Chip Tha Ripper's "Realer" any more smooth would be a hook from Usher. Not present day Usher, but Usher circa 1997. In fact, something about the production on "Realer" reminds me of Usher's "Nice & Slow" single. But instead of Usher we get a sample from New Edition's Ralph Tresvant and it gives "Realer" a bit of a 90's throwback sound.

At a little under two-minutes long "Realer" is a little on the brief side, but hasty length aside Chip still manages to put together a solid song. He even pulls off something I usually hate on songs and that is the dreaded "rapper singing his own hook" move. He's obviously no Maxwell, but his rapper singing seems to fit "Realer."
