Why I Hate Charles Hamilton’s “Gauchos” (Listen & Download)

Charles Hamilton Gauchos
Like most people, I've got a love/hate relationship with Charles Hamilton, and right now I'm more on the hate side of the fence. It seemed so easy to hate on the man, so for a while I was damnedest to appreciate his talent, and he is talented, but for some reason he insists on making it so hard. Despite the fact that he announced he his "Binge 3" mixtape would be the last work we heard from him before the release of his official album single, he released approximately 79 new tracks before then (some of which are here), and now that the aforementioned single has arrived, I find my patience worn thin. On the production side of "Gauchos" Jim Jonsin seems to be desperately attempting to sound like The Neptunes, while lyrically Charles is beginning to sound more and more like Nicki Minaj everyday (as in his flows are crazy, but they're crazy in this very predictable, monotonous way).

And because I'm sure most blogs won't bother to explain what a "gaucho" is, "guacho" is a Spanish term used to describe the equivalent of a cowboy, hence the "shoot it out like gauchos." Although he really meant to say "vaquero". A "guacho" refers specifically to cowboys countries like Argentina or Uruguay, though they're more likely to herd sheep and llamas than cattle. (Step your Spanish game up son!) So why the picture of a golfer? Fucking beats me.

Was just informed that the Gauchos are a ball team in Harlem, which also makes sense in the "shoot" context. Never let it be said I won't admit when I'm wrong - although the pic of the golfer still doesn't make any fucking sense.

Remember the learning tool called "Hooked On Phonics?"
When I was in University, my buddy and I told his roommate that Phonics was a street name for weed. Hence "Hooked On Weed." ...and the dude believed us for an entire semester.
He would hit us up, "I got some phonics"
When we told him that Phonics is just the learning tool... he absolutely looked heart-broken.

@The Insider Hmmmmm....great call. Let's call Redman now.

@d-mac There are also a few college teams called The Gauchos, including the University of San Diego. Maybe that's who Hamilton was referring to.

what the hell is this? The beat was average until it got to the hook... sounds like a bad Bangladesh track...

that being said, its damn catchy, but they should've substituted another word for "Gaucho"...
