Betty Wright is the Sh*t, The Roots & Lil Wayne Are Just Bonuses (Listen)

Betty Wright is one of those singers that most hip-hop fans may not know about, but if you talk to your favorite producer chances are that their eyes will go wide at the mention of Betty's name. The woman's got an absolutely stellar voice, and she's been shocking people who don't expect such dirty lyrics to come out of such a lovely woman. It's a recipe that's seen her sampled by, well, everyone. (This sound familiar? What about this?)

So when she's got the legendary Roots crew backing her on a cut called "Grapes on the Vine" I'm all in. And fitting considering our conversation from earlier today, Lil Wayne comes in with a verse that's pretty damn good. Don't worry, we'll get back to the rappity rap rap shortly, but give me a minute to appreciate Betty. I fucks with Ms. Wright heavy.

Off "Betty Wright: The Movie", due to drop November 15.
