I noticed that all my fellow bloggers seem to be taking a "I wish this new
Andre 3000 guest verse wasn't on a
Ke$ha song called '
Sleazy', but oh well" approach, seemingly out of respect for a man who's indisputably one of the best rappers alive (when he decides to actually rap). Unsurprisingly, I've got a slightly more - let's say "energetic" take. What the fucking fuck Andre? Seriously, what the fuck?
Just so we're all on the same page, here's a quick list of Andre 3K guest features over the last few years (he hasn't put out official solo or Outkast material since 2006's "Idlewild").
DJ Unk - "
Walk It Out (Remix)"
Rick Boy - "
Throw Some D (Remix)"
UGK - "
Int'l Players Anthem"
John Legend - "
Green Light"
Ciara - "
Ride (Remix)"
Chris Brown - "
Deuces (Remix)"
Ke$sha - "Sleazy"
Take a look at that list. That's not a coincidence; the UGK's (and to a lesser extent the John Legend) are the only tracks on there that don't at least prompt a mild WTF. He's clearly purposefully choosing shallow, disposable pop songs to rhyme over, which wouldn't be that big a deal....except he's one of the best rappers alive and only does two verses a fucking year. Fuckity fuck fuck mcfucksalot. Here's an idea 3 Stacks: why not drop one of these ridiculously dope verses on a song that's actually good?
And what's more concerning, they only seem to be getting worse. This is like watching Jordan come out of retirement and refuse to play for anyone but the Timberwolves. What could he possibly be thinking? Any hypotheses RefinedHype nation?
