Afrika Bambaataa Taps Into His Fashion Side With New Collection

Not sure about you guys, but I definitely didn’t take Hip Hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa as the sneaker/t-shirt line having kind. I suppose it’s a pleasant surprise though. Earlier today AllHipHop.com revealed that Bambaataa will be releasing a series of t-shirts and sneakers through Zulu Collection with C1RCA Select. Bambaataa has even designed two sneakers for the collection; they’re titled the The Bambaataa Convert and the 99 Vulc.



The Bambaataa Convert, which I personally think is the better of the two sneakers, features a red, black, and green colorway. There also seems to be a dark tribal print on a portion of the sneaker. All and all the sneaker is somewhat reminiscent of the Zulu Nation, particularly with the choice of colors. The 99 Vulc on the other hand, I’m not really sure what went wrong there. The sneaker is all black with gold detailing here and there and on top of that it also has somewhat of a bulky, unflattering shape to it. But you can’t hate too much on a sneaker created by one of Hip Hop’s Godfathers.



Although there’s expected to be three different t-shirts included in the Zulu Collection only a sample of one of the t-shirts was released. It features a large image of a very Zulu inspired Afrika Bambaataa on a white t-shirt.
