50 Cent Releases Unimpressive New Video for “Crime Wave”

Posted by Nathan S. on 10/23/09 | Filed under Videos, 50 Cent

As he continues to build hype around his upcoming album “Before I Self Destruct”, the marketing genius that is 50 Cent has released a video/mini-movie for his new single “Crime Wave” that features Fiddy, in no particular order, shooting a computer programmer, getting taken down by a skinny dude in a hoody, and jacking someone up for spilling orange juice on him. Crime wave indeed.

The Refined Take:

1) II’ll be honest, I don’t really get the plot in the opening. So 50 and his boy did a job, and now they’re going to give all the money from the job to someone else, I guess in hopes of getting an even bigger job thrown their way? Can someone help me out with this? Seriously, I’m a little lost.
2) Ok, that was the least believable shoot out scene of all time. First of all, the dude they owe the money to looks more like a Microsoft computer programmer who got a little dirty than a criminal heavyweight. Second, he literally touches one bill and then asks “Where’s the rest?” Not even Rainman could have counted that fast. And last but not least, when 50 shoots him in the chest it looks like the special effects team just threw some orange jam on him and called it a day. Really guys? You couldn’t have even used some ketchup? You’re better than that.
3) His boy’s right, huge choke on 50’s part to not take the money. Huge choke.
4) Not a particularly impressive first fight scene by 50, he pretty much gets taken down by this skinny dude in the hoody and his boy has to bail him out with the hammer. Over all I’m surprised a little surprised about how 50 portrays himself in this. Instead of the hardcore gangster he mostly comes off as a petty thief who’s vulnerable to being f**ked with.
5) “Before I Self Destruct” is due out in stores on November 23. No word yet if 50 will retire if Justin Timberlake, whose album drops on the same die, outsells him.
crime wave seems to mostly consist of beating up dealers who owe him money. I really would have thought he’d take a more epic approach
